Birdland CD Release Concert and Party - UPDATE !!!!

As most of you know, and most of you have written me, the CD Release Party on January 7th, 2008 is officially SOLD OUT ...BBBBBUUUUTTTTT, and this is a huge but, you can still be a part of the evening.

Tickets are sold only for tables, BUT, they have a nice sized bar area that can fit A LOT of people. Those of you who have written me wondering if it's worth it to try and get in, I have OFFICIALLY been told by the 'powers that be' (aka Jim Caruso) that almost every time in the past, they have been able to get everyone who wants to in for the evening concerts. Yes, it may be a tight fit, and yes, some of you may be standing for over an hour, but it's going to be an AMAZING night featuring talent such as : Shoshana Bean, Stephanie J. Block, Eden Espinosa, Cheyenne Jackson, Jonathan Groff, Carly Jibson, Danny Calvert and more ... expect the unexpected .... a CD signing and reception with all the artists will follow the concert.

It's over a month away, but I am already so excited .... hope to see you then ...

Best, -SA

ps. And yes, many of the performers will be singing more then one song ;)

Catching Up

Hey There -
I hope that everyone is well and had a wonderful Thanksgiving day. I ate a little to much. I actually just ate the last bit of left overs last night. Thankfully, they are gone, and today, I head back to the gym to get myself thin again .... I had a wonderful holiday myself. I spent it with my mother and sister, aunt, uncle and cousins. Every year, my mom makes the same dishes, and we always look forward to them. She isn't the greatest cook, but she has perfected these dishes, thankfully.

I still have a cold that doesn't want to seem to go away, and with this cold front hitting New York this weekend, it isn't helping much. Yet, that's a small pebble in the road for me right now. Everything seems to be going wonderfully, knock on wood. I have started really putting together the December 10th New Voices Wrap Up concert at the Duplex. It is sure to be a fantastic evening, with almost every composer and performer joining us from this past year. The hardest part is keeping the show around an hour and 15 minutes, but It must be done. I hope that those of you who will be in the city will help us celebrate the end of our third year. It seems like only yesterday I started the series, and now we head into our fourth year. I am very blessed.

In addition, work has started on the CD Release party. I should have the final list of performers by the end of this week. Sadly, Katie Thompson had to pull out of the evening since her own show will be making a debut out in Los Angeles, but Carly Jibson, who duets with Jackie Hoffman on At Seventeen, will be singing 'Say Goodbye' in her place and I know she is going to rock it out. Carly's voice is unbelievable. I am also excited to announce that Shoshana Bean will also be joining us for the evening as well. As of right now, that means, Shoshana Bean, Stephanie J. Block, Eden Espinosa, Liz Callaway, Danny Calvert Jonathan Groff, Carly Jibson, Adriane Lenox and Cheyenne Jackson will be joining us. Remember, there will be a CD signing afterwards. If you don't own the actual cd, we will be selling them at the venue after the show, so no worries. Please note: Only actual CD's will be signed. You can still buy tickets to the show HERE.

Let's see, what else. Oh, yes, you can hear an interview done with Jesse Vargas and myself on the Broadway Bullet podcast, which is available for download on iTunes or HERE. In addition to the downloaded interview, you will also be able to download the two live in studio performance of Katie Thompson singing 'Say Goodbye' and Danny Calvert singing 'Kiss the Air.' I know many of you would enjoy those on your ipods, so go take a listen now. Its the Episode two of the latest podcast.

Other then that, 'Piece' got some interesting news this week, and after things finalize, I will share that with you. In addition, I started work on a new musical. Again, I am trying to finalize the title and get the rights to it, and when that happens, I will bring you all the information. It's a show I am extremely excited about, so I really hope that it happens. I always said I wouldn't write a show based on a novel or a movie, but, I just read this book and fell in love with and the central character, and couldn't help myself. Fingers are crossed.

My dog, Billy, is asleep now, and I need to go to the gym. I made a decision this week that I will be buying my first apartment this year. I don't really have the money to do that, so I have a lot of work ahead of me. All I need to do is sell one song to one recording artist and I am ready to go ...anyone have any leads for me ? ;)

On a closing note, I wanted to thank so many of you for your beautiful letters in the past few months. I got my sales for iTunes downloads for the months of October and was BLOWN AWAY by how many of you downloaded the full cd. I wanted to thank you for that. It means the world to me. Recently a friend of the family passed away and he left a letter to be read at his funeral. In the letter he accused those in the audience for only being there for his death, not for his life, for not being there when he needed them most. Well, it made me realize how lucky I am, that every single day of my life for the last four years I have received at least one letter from a total stranger telling me the impact that music has had on them. Even a one sentence can make a difference. I wish this for everyone of you. There is no feeling like knowing you are appreciated by someone, and I thank you for taking the time to care.

I wish you all a wonderful week. Stay warm ...xoxo -SA
