Out of Stock CD ...

I have gotten a lot of emails this past week asking when the CD will become available again on CDBaby. Due to unseen circumstances, the new CD production took two extra weeks to get going (I won't gossip on why),so the new shipment should arrive at CDBaby in a week and a half. I am so sorry for the delay.

My weekend ... my week ahead

Hey hey -
I woke up late today, and have had a sh*t morning so far, so I am going to go for a run in a little while and try and get myself going.

I was so lucky to see my pal Lisa Brescia in Wicked on Friday night. I went alone (I think I like going to the theatre alone), and really didn't know what to expect. I adore Lisa, but you always get nervous seeing friends in shows, and hope they live up to expectation, and did she EVER !!! She was beyond brilliant. She nailed every laugh, every note, every sentiment, every part of Elphaba. I was so touched by her performance, and so was the rest of the audience. As I told her, it is an honor to have her as my friend, and to have the opportunities to see her on stage. She is a true star.

I also fell in love with Michael Seelbach. I mean, literally fell in love with him. While I was waiting outside of Lisa's room as she showered, Michael passed me and I just wanted to tell him I think we should get married, but I held off. I think I may have frightened him by saying that at a first meeting (though I did tell Lisa's dresser and Lisa to tell him they know a cute Jew). Instead, when he passed, I smiled that 'good job, buddy' smile, that annoys me when others give it to me. In all honesty, though, out of all the Fiyero's have ever seen (I will be going back to see Stephanie and Sebastian when they return), he was my favorite. He nailed the role, the jokes, and his vocals were outstanding. Maybe one day he and I will work together on music, and then get married.

I also have to say that two of my friends who went to see Stephanie in 'Wicked' told me I may not enjoy Annaleigh's performance as Glinda. Ok, maybe I haven't seen enough Glinda's, but she was one of my favorites. Honestly, you can tell she is young, and that is what I loved about her performance. I loved how young she was, because, the role is young, or starts that way. Now, granted, it seemed that a lot of the audience was uncertain about her performance at first, but the moment she LANDED Popular (I think it was the best Popular I have seen), the audience followed her ride the rest of the way. I don't know, but, I just really enjoyed her performance. A lot. I called Tara and told her I think she would make an incredible Kira in Xanadu. Just my own personal opinion.

Tonight I am going to see some friends perform at Ars Nova. If you are free, come check it out. It is sure to be an amazing night of wonderful music. Here is all the information:

Their eclectic material has been called witty and well-crafted, songs that bring down the house (Los Angeles Times). For the first time ever Heitzman and Reid are doing an evening of their songbook which will include songs from past shows, trunk songs and a whole lot of new material. Our First Review ...

I am heading out the door now to go watch my favorite author, Wally Lamb, speak at a Book Store in New York City, but I wanted to share with each of you our first review for 'Dreaming Wide Awake.' It is from TalkinBroadway's Sound Advice by Rob Lester. As this is the first review of many, let's hope they are all this kind.

One last thank you ... for the road

I am obsessing about this CD a little, but, probably because a dream of mine has become a reality. Now, my CD is the fourth highest seller on CDBaby this week, and so I just want to thank each of you who went and purchased the CD for giving me a small push when needed most. I know that there is still a long wait list of people on waiting for the CD, but enough CD's will be sent in on Monday to last awhile. Again, thank you so much. With the exception of mentioning when the CD becomes available on iTunes and, of course, the Birdland Concert, I am going to stop bragging about my CD on my blog any longer ;)

Side note. If you haven't downloaded Shoshana Bean singing 'House of Love,' and Tracie Toms singing 'Falling Apart' on Jeremy Schonfeld's myspace page, I don't know what you are waiting for. AMAZING. Click here to purchase. There are also lots of other incredible songs, sung by Jeremy as well, and I believe one by Adam Pascal as well. What a wonderful talent.

Birdland Concert on January 7th

Hey Everyone -
So many people have asked when tickets will become available for the Birdland CD Release concert for 'Dreaming Wide Awake.' Well, tickets have now become available. Visit HERE to purchase your tickets now. Thanks everyone. It's going to be a great show, with some fantastic performances from many of the artists on the CD. Best, SA

Thank You (Again)

Well, thank you all again for selling out another round of my CD today on cdbaby. I can't believe how fast these CD's went. As I mentioned yesterday, I thought the original order I made would last me a little while. Well, it lasted me two days. Trust me, no complaints here. I have gone on to order 1,000 more cd's this time around (these will last me the rest of my life, im sure, but the price was worth it) and some of those will arrive at cdbaby on Monday.

Again, thank you so much. You guys rock, and I am going to bed extremely proud. I just hope all of you are happy with the product and it was worth the wait. ;)

Pleasant Dreams - SA

I can't believe ...

I can't believe people have received there CD already. WOW !!! CDBaby moves fast, huh ?!?!? Well, I am heading to work (Yup, bartending till 4am), but I am going to walk there, tonight, with a huge smile on my face. I am so happy everyone seems to love the CD. That is all I could honestly ask for.

So ...

It is 10am in the morning. I am about to go to drop off some CD's at the post office. I thought, maybe, 50 would be enough for now. Most of the die hard fans already bought the CD yesterday, right ? WRONG .... I just looked at my CDBaby account, and there are about 100 people on the wait list for the CD now.

Well, here is the tricky situation. I only made 200 CD's. I guess I'm delusional, but I thought 200 CD's would last me a long time. I mean, you know, like over a year .... I thought, 'ok, some people will buy the CD, but most will wait for iTunes so I am fine with 200.' No, no, I'm not (and trust me, this is the happiest I've been). If everyone on the wait list buys the CD, I have zero CD's left. So, I am taking all of the remainder CD's to fedex right now. I am going to put it on my credit card and do it over night, so that the people whom have been so incredible generous (you), can get the CD, possibly, by this weekend, or, latest, Monday. THEN, I am going to order another order of 200 cd's from the printing company (how I'm affording all of this, I dont know. Hopefully I will get paid by CDBaby on Monday), so that they will be done by Monday, and I can get another order in to CDBaby (anyone lost yet ?). I think that will cover my bases.

I couldn't be happier. I am so happy that you are excited for this CD. That makes ME excited, and proud. So, keep ordering the CD's. Sell it out. I will keep ordering more. Get your name on the wait list, if you havent already HERE, and check back tomorrow, as a new order will arrive then.

Thanks for being so good to me.

UPDATE: CD's have been sent, and a new order of CD's have been ordered. If CDBbay run out this weekend, a new stock will become available on Monday.

Tuesday, October 09, 2007

Wow ... Good news and bad news

I don't even know what to say right now. A week ago I sent an email to the people over at CDBaby asking if it was ok for me to send them more CD's, as normally they allow you 4 cd's to sell first, and if those sell, you can send in more. (I want to get a list of the people who can't sell more then 4 copies and make everyone buy their CD).

Well, I am a very impatient person. Not really my strongest suit. Soooo, Two days later I had yet to hear back from them (busy company, what did I expect ?), and so I sent them enough CD's to last a few weeks, months, a year (or so I thought). One hour after I sent them all of these CD's, I got a sweet email saying, 'not a problem Scott. Send us ten for now, and we will go from there.'

Oy !!! I was nervous (my anxiety level sucks. I think its a Jewish Long Island thing) that when the received my huge box with all these CD's (not the 10 they said was ok to send them) they would send them back with a note saying 'you suck. sucka !!!' But, thankfully (whew) they were so wonderful about it all and said that they usually don't hold these many CD's for an artist they haven't worked with yet, but they would make an exception this time around since it took them a few days to get back to me. What a relief. I could sleep. No Xanax needed !!!

Well, today I went to see the dress for Young Frankenstein (AMAZING,AMAZING) and I get home and there were only 20 CD's left. And now ?!?! Only five cd's are left. WHAT ?!?!?!? I don't even know what to say. I noticed a few people bought more then one copy of the CD (early Christmas presents ?) and some people even bought ten copies (what ???), so to all of you dedicated fans:
I can't thank you enough for making this day so special and for making me smile right now. (I guess I shouldn't smile until you hear the CD. Oh great, now I guess I'm taking a Xanax tonight).

With every good news, comes the bad news. I am BROKE. That's not the bad news (well, not for you. For me, yes !!! Anyone want to buy me a cookie ?) So, even though I will be sending CDBaby more CD's tomorrow, I can't afford to fedex those CD's overnight, and soooo ..... most probably those CD's wont become available until Friday or possibly next Monday (they don't post on the weekend). I couldn't be happier that the CD has done so well in one day, but I feel bad a few of you will have to wait till then. Again, four more copies are still available, so grab it while you can. Otherwise, see you Monday ;)

UPDATE: The CD has officially been sold out on CDBaby within one minute of me posting this blog. I promise to send more out tomorrow.

The CD is now available to be purchased. Go to this link. As I had mentioned in a previous post, the CD will NOT be available for digital download via cdbaby, or via iTunes/, etc, for a few more days. Trust me, though, Robbie did such a fantastic job with the CD booklet, which has all the lyrics and beautiful photos, etc, that I am sort of happy that, at this time, you can only buy the full CD.

I better hear reviews within the next few days. ;)

Another CD update ...

Hey Everyone -
So, I will be attending the Young Frankenstein Dress tomorrow and my webmaster, Robbie, will be at work until 5:30, so, just giving those of you whom seem to be excited about getting the CD tomorrow an update ...

The link to buy the CD on cdbaby will be: Keep checking back at that link, as that is where the CD will be sold, once the site is up and running. Robbie will post a direct link to the site once he gets home after 5:30 tomorrow.

Thats all ...we had a FANTASTIC 'New Voices' tonight. Thanks to all those of you who showed up and helped support New Voices.

Only the Best, SA

**** CD UPDATE ****

First let me say this ...

I can't believe how many emails I have received from people excited about this CD. It makes everything that much more exciting. I just sent CDBaby a huge bunch of CD's due to the over whelming response, so, it shouldn't run out anytime soon (unless over 200 people purchase the CD in one day

That being said, I forgot it was a Holiday tomorrow. We had hoped to get the CD up for purchase by 12am on Tuesday, but the reality is, the CD MOST PROBABLY won't be ready for purchase till later in the afternoon on Tuesday. If anything changes, you will be the first to know, trust me !!!!

Also, as this is my first time with CDBaby, I have heard from people say that the digital download doesn't happen for a day or two after the page goes live. I don't know if this is true or not, but just letting those know whom are eagerly anticipating Tuesday's release date, that you MAY only be able to purchase the actual CD as of now (it has all the lyrics to the songs, introductions to each of the songs and beautiful photos by Curtis Brown ... so, this is well worth it) Again, I will keep you updated on this.

And, again, it won't be available on iTunes right away. Could take three days, a week a month ... Everyone's CD has a different wait.

Ok, its early in the morning, and I am about to pass out .... hoping you are all well ...and again, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your beautiful emails and support means the world to me ... Best, SA

Hey Everyone - Help us get the word out about the CD's release on Tueaday ... post the html code found HERE onto your myspace, facebook, friendster, web site pages and help 'spread the word'... There is no prize for doing this, but you will receive my unconditional love (isn't that enough ?) ;)

This is what will appear on your site:

Thursday, October 04, 2007

Wow, I'm posting a lot

So, before I was able to get the CD out to the public I felt it important to send it out to the performers and get there blessing. I am happy to say, everyone was extremely happy about how it turned out. As I mentioned the other day, Shoshana Bean put up 'Home' on her myspace page.

NOW, Traci Thoms has posted her song Let Love Begin on her myspace page. Go check it out !!!

iTunes ...

Hey Everyone -
So, I had a lot of people email me yesterday asking if the CD would become available on iTunes on Tuesday. The answer is, as of right now, no. It will only be available via my website and On, though, they now feature an option to download the entire CD, which will open up into your iTunes player, or any other mp3 player you may wish to play it through. If you are die hard on waiting for iTunes, it will become available shortly. The exact date, I don't know exactly. It could be sometime next week, or a month later. I will, of course, update you when that happens.

My day, thoughts, etc ...

Last night I went out with Carly Jibson, whom sings a hilarious duet on my CD with Jackie Hoffman.. We had a very intense conversation about the theatre message boards, and the reason neither of I us read them anymore.

I haven't gone onto the message boards in over two years, until, of course, tonight.

I got home from work, I turn on America's Next Top Model on my digital, and notice I have over 200 emails waiting for me (crazy, but really touching. Especially after coming home from a late night working at a bar with people yelling at you for not giving them enough Blueberry vodka. Good times). Amazing letters from people who heard the new music on myspace, and telling me how excited they are about the CD. Then one letter says, 'You gotta read this. Hilarious.' The link was embedded into the 'this.' I pressed on 'this,' and low and behold, it took me over to Tempted, I read. What once would have hurt me tremendously, no longer did. I have grown so much as a person, and people's vengeful words against me, mean nothing other then jealousy.

But, for the sheer satisfaction of making you happy: ;)

Funnyandtallguy2 - Thank you for being interested in Detour. Detour debuted at the Complex Theatre in Los Angeles. The incredible cast included: Perry Hayes, Kari Walhgren (honestly, if anyone knows her, please tell her to touch base with me ...she is BRILLIANT), Jill Zadeh (whom you can hear on my CD on 'The Journey' with Josh Strickland), Jason Radeck and Raquel Laherman. The show was directed by Sean Mac Arthur. The poster was created by Henry Nagel The Musical Director was Fawnheart Clawson. The Design Consultant was Desdimona Chaing. The lightening Designer was Stace Baaal. The Light Crew Captian was Mark Umbach. The Makeup/Run Crew was Bo Holt. The producer was Jessica Heilig. (I am looking at the program right now. Trust me, my memory aint this good). Any other questions, feel free to ask me ... I was very proud of that show and take pride that it was my first show. Why no searches come up with any information, I can't tell you. I don't run the internet. Maybe ask Al Gore. If you wanna come over and watch the video with me, send me an email. Just bring some kettle Corn popcorn and Raisonette's, ok ? (a bottle of wine would be a nice gesture, too, but do what you can).

iluvtheatretrash - I save every fan letter I have ever received in my life. I value the words people send to me. They mean the world to me. I take them very seriously. Here is an excerpt from one you sent to me. Notice how you never mention only liking one song of mine due to the fact that Julia Murney performed it:

I've spent the last 24 hours with your music on loop and the last
week considering what words I could write in an e-mail to you. Your music is
simply... inspirational. I could only aspire to be the performer I want to
be: one that would be able to give your music the justice it deserves.
I'm sure you've heard all of this so many times. I'm sure you've had people
e-mail you proclaiming your greatness. I'm sure you have people begging you
for connections, for the blessing of singing your music, for... God, I can't
even imagine what else.

I intend to come to your show at the Duplex this January in hopes that I'll
be able to shake your hand. Thank you, Scott. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
Steven McCasland

I wrote you back:

Steven -
What a beautifully, thought out, email. It is for reasons like this, that I am able to write, and continue my journey of giving back. I look forward to meeting you Steven at the showcase in January. Thanks again for your beautiful letter and I hope this finds you happy and healthy. -SA

You sent me 19 emails following that. Sadly, after a while, someone writes so many times, you have to stop replying, but, in all fairness, I wss very kind to you. Many performers/composers dont reply to emails. I always do. I think its important. If someone reaches out to me. I always reach back. Thanks for repaying me by saying such lovely words about me on a message board. again. (that email above is nothing compared to the others you have sent about how my music has changed your life. Feel free to ask me to post those for people to see and read. I will happily do so and I am sure they would love to read them).

I am sure this posting will cause a stirring. Let it be known, I will not be reading what you have to say in reply. If you want to email me directly your thoughts, please go ahead. If not, continue on ...

To all those who sent me amazing emails tonight (many who discovered my music, im sure, through the message board chat, funny enough), thank you so much. I can't wait to get the CD out to you, and I couldn't be happier by your response.
