Perez, Katie Thompson and fever ...

So, I am obsessed with Perez Hilton. I know, I know ..It's bad for me, but it's sooooo good for me. Ok, so though almost everyone knows perezhilton.com, some don't so ... Head over there now ... Granted, I like the Beyonce CD, and think Ashlee Simpson deserves a break, I agree with everything else ... I think he should do a theatre post ...A random post ...Like 'Sutton Foster throws a glass vase at Beth Leavel, and we have the video' (that didn't happen ...) ... I have a small fever right now, so I am constantly checking the site for updates ..Its horrible ..The refresh button is my best friend ... If you like celebrity gossip, you will love it ...THOUGH, I have to wonder why 'Posh' spice gets so much attention ..Is she really a star ? I mean, her husband is one of the most beautiful men to grace this world, but Posh ? ...hmmmm .... The site has also turned me on to some great new music .... That's the best part ..He shows some amazing new talent, and gives them a voice, and I love when that happens .... The funniest posts are about Matt Dallas, who is on that new Kyle KY show on the family channel ... now, I don't think anyone should be outed ...If your not comfortable with saying your gay, then don't ...I honestly commend Clay Aiken for 'now' not saying either, BUT, when you say 'No, I am NOT gay and make homosexuality something you need to defend' you are open to be debated, like Matt, whom, IS gay, and was gay about five years ago when i Iived in LA and he dated a friend of mine .... That frustrates me ... So, keep going Perezhilton.com ...You rock ... I think you can email him on his website, though I never have, but tell him to rock on ... love it
Ok, Katie Thompson ... She will be performing my song 'Say Goodbye' tonight at Broadway Idol ... I would have gone if I didn't have a fever ... But I am going to take some medication now and pass out while listening to Oprah in the background and holding my Bichon Frise as he tried to escape so he can sleep in his bed and not near me ... He hates me .... Its so inspiring isn't it ? I can't keep a boyfriend or my dog in bed with me ... oy !!! Ok, time to go read perezhilton.com ...xo -SA

Sh*t Happens ...

So, everything was going fine. I woke up after having 30 minutes of sleep. Went to Tara's to pick up the scripts and sheet music packages for the ladies, and was just on my way to rehearsal, when ..*RING* *RING* *RING* "Hey Scott. It's Tara. Don't flip your lid. Be calm. Amy Spanger just called and dropped out due to Bronchitis."
Ok, the good news ... Early on, we held auditions for the role of 26, before Amy gave us the thumbs up, and we had one girl who BLEW US AWAY ... Yes, I admit it. We went with the 'star' name. So, I picked up the phone, and called David Krasner, who gave us the talent that is Kate Wetherhead, and said 'Is Marla Mindelle available ? I need her in an hour.' So, now,we have our new 26. I have to say, Marla reminds me of Sutton Foster in so many ways. That may work against her, or for her. She is a brilliant actor, who takes risks, and she is fantastic vocalists. I look forward to having her apart of the performance. I must say, I am looking forward to having four woman who can act the shit out of this 'PIECE,' and who will leave the DIVA attitude at the door, like we have had in the past (no names will be mentioned). Well, rehearsal begins now ...I must go ...hope to see you at MNNV tonight ...xoxox -SA

My thoughts ...

Hey everyone - I hope your well. Things here are well, if not a little bit crazy right now. I am listening to the new Beyoncé cd right now. I don't think its the GREATEST cd in the world, but there are a few songs that just 'get' me ... Little Irreplaceable. LOVE IT ...I could listen to this song every day of my life. Ok, maybe not. I am sure I will hate it once its released to radio and becomes a huge hit, but for now, I LOVE IT !!!
So, we start rehearsals today with the 'Piece' girls for the NAMT festival. I am really excited to get rolling. I can't believe its two weeks away. I hope everyone is sending us good thoughts on getting picked up by a regional theatre, and gaining interest from Producers. This is a crucial part of the process. I have been working on Piece for over three years now. Crazy, right ? It's extremely important for people to understand, that we are working our ass's off, and this is NOT coming easy. I know some people think there is over night success, but it wont be found here ...whatever success is my payoff, was well earned. I just hope it happens.
On a side note, Damon Intrabartolo, the amazing composer of BARE: A Pop Opera, is FINALLY get a website. It's still in working process, but check back at www.checkersnixon.com for updates. If you think he looks HOT in that photo, then check out this video of the two of us ... we worked hard on it ...I hope you like it ... http://www.dancesisterdance.com/myvid/index.php?v=d2a3fbb638160 ... I hope to see all of you at MNNV tonight ... xoxo -SA

The frustrations of life ...

First, let me start by saying ..Casting a show, when you don't have a casting agent, is hard sh*t. We have three parts cast, but it's our lead role of Katherine that is proving to be the hardest part. We have asked the world, and the world is unavailable. No hard feelings. Nobody has even opened up to read the script because they have such busy schedules, so I am not taking it personally or anything. It is just extremely frustrating. Regardless, the rest of our cast is amazing, and our script is in the best place it's ever been. Tara and I have met every morning, working non stop on the script. I am so proud of the work we have put into it.

***NEWS FLASH** My show is cast ... Who did we get ? Beats me ...lol ...I hear she is beyond wonderful though. She, being Tia Sperows (she played Rose Gellman on the Caroline, or Change tour), will join Kate Wetherhead as "17", Amy Spanger as "26" and Katie Thompson as "35" for the festival. Speaking of Katie Thompson. She is in the final five for Broadway Idol at the NYMF, and I want you all to vote for her. I, sadly, haven't been to one of the shows, nor will I be attending due to my crazy ass schedule, BUT, she is amazing, and brilliant, and is a songwriter, and you should all go buy her self-produced cd on iTunes NOW !!!! Ohhhhhhh ...AND she is also performing a set of her music at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on Monday Night at 10pm. Soooo, those of you attending Monday Nights, New Voices on Monday night at 7pm at the Duplex, can then join me at Katies show .... good times, great oldies. Trust me ...this girl is a STAR !!!

Ok, that is basically all for now. I am going to the gym, and then to go see my friend in 'White Noise' in the NYMF. Looking forward. I heard it's wonderful (well, from him at least ....him, being Danny Calvert, who you can hear sing 'Kiss the Air' on my website ....) ... Ok, blar blar blar ...I am off ...I hope this finds you all happy and healthy ...xo -SA

ps. My dog is CRAZY ...That's all !!!!

so ..

I am watching a Primetime special right now, on high school cruelty, and it reminded me that I still haven't responded if I was going to my ten year high school reunion. Now, for the most part, I know people grow up and change, BUT, I have to be honest, I don't know if my high school is a good example, but who knows. How many of you are being tormented at high school ? I have to let you know, that is what I faced every day of my life. I would literally throw up every morning before getting in the bus. Sometimes I would let the bus drop me off, and then I would walk off the grounds, and go to my favorite record store in the near by town, to talk about music. My parents didn't know why my grades were bad. I missed most of my classes out of fear. My home life wasn't great either, so I never felt like I had a saving grace. The only time I ever felt saved was when I would go away to Stagedoor Manor each summer. A part of me is evening thinking about teaching there in the coming year or two, just to give back to what was given to me. Anyhoo, my point is, if you are being picked on at school, it gets better. I promise you. If you need to talk, write me an email. I am here to listen, ok ? They talked about a young man, Ryan Halligan, who committed suicide, because he was so fed up with being abused by other students, and it got me going back to that place, where I felt the same way. On the flip side, if you see someone being teased, please please stand up for them. One person standing up for them will let them know someone cares. Ok ? ...I know, this may be coming out of left field, but if you've been there, you know that pain and i'd want to protect from that ..xo -SA

I can't sleep ...

I can't sleep. Another night without any sleep. So much on my mind tonight. Actually, early morning, since its a little after 2am on Friday morning now. I am listening to the new Beyonce cd, which, mind you, I actually really like. (who needs critics anyhow ?). The new song 'Listen' from the Dreamgirls movie is equally as likeable. So, why so much on my mind you may ask ? Well, 'Piece' is in the NAMT festival, as many of you know, and we are really reworking the script for our 45 minute presentation, and making calls to get our cast assembled, which is an IMPOSSIBILITY .... I have a feeling that I will be playing every role by the day the festival roles around, with the exception of Kate Wetherhead as the 17 yr old Katherine. We couldn't do this show without her. She has been playing this role for over two years now. I can say, with certainty, that this role would win Kate a Tony award. Even if you hate our show, you will fall in love with her. We are very lucky. Other then that, we are on hold for our other actors. We are back to the very original concept of the show, with only four woman. We are suppose to announce our cast on Monday, so hopefully we will get all the thumbs up by then. Cross your fingers for us, please !!!
I am also putting together the new MNNV. Christiana Noll, who was sched. to host two months ago, but due to an illness had to pull out, will play host on September 25th, with five extremely talented performers. I am SOOOO excited to say we will be returning to The Duplex. It's the home for the show, and feels right. Like always, finding the special composer for the evening takes the longest time, and hopefully that will also work itself out.
There are, of course, many personal situations in my life right now, but I will keep that for my private journal. I hope this finds you all well. Robbie, my webmaster, will be putting up video clips from the Laurie Beechman Theatre concert up on the site sometime next week, so that is something to look forward to. I hope this finds you all well. Best, SA
