Dating ...Oy !

How damn hard is it to find a decent guy, that makes me laugh, and doesn't show up to dates drunk ? Yes, tonight on 'GAY' day in NYC, I had a date. Why, you may ask, did I choice to go on a date instead of cruising bars filled with sweaty muscle men ?(The bars close at 4 right ? I still have time ...) I decided that I would rather have a nice dinner with someone, good conversation then cramped into a box with men who don't even dare as look me in the eye. Well, my 'date,' whom I had hung out with the other evening via a mutual friend, showed up late, on his cell phone, and DRUNK. Yes, DRUNK. I was 'this' close to just calling off the date out of anger, but I thought 'heck, its gay pride, everyone is drinking, I'll let it slide.' WELL, He hardly started any of the conversation, ordered more liquor at dinner, even though I was drinking an unsweetened Ice Tea (it was 'fruit flavored' for the festivities), and managed to find four times during the course of our dinner to text message a friend, ONLY to ask me to continue the evening at a movie, or someplace else. Well, I had enough, so I said 'You go your way, I'll go mine, enjoy your evening and goodnight.' WHY IS IT SO HARD TO MEET A GOOD MAN ? I think I wanna do a gay speed date thingy. Oy !!!!

Kate Wetherhead was incredible this evening in 'Spelling Bee.' What a great show, with a FANTASTIC CAST. I have never met Jesse Fergusen, but I think I want to marry him. He was so incredible in the show, and it was so incredible to see how involved with him that the audience got. The minute he was eliminated, the entire audience sighed with honest sadness. Ok, back to Kate Wetherhead. This was her BROADWAY DEBUT and she didn't miss ONE BEAT. Ok, this is my first time seeing the show, so maybe she did, I don't know, but from what I could tell, she was on every minute, so strong. She really is one hell of a talent.

Tomorrow I was invited to Gary Marshalls reading of 'Happy Days.' I can't wait. I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy. xo -SA

...

How Did I End Up Here ?
This time in my life.
How does one lose everything,
Before it was given ?

How Did I End up Here,
Did I take the wrong direction ?
How was it given all to me,
and then set aflame ?

And all the mountains I must climb
And all the oceans I must swim through
And all the walls that I must break
And the tears that must come down
And the sky that I must reach
And all the strength I need to find
And the heart that I must stop
From closing in on me
Leaves me here.

How Did I End Up Here,
Is there a road towards freedom ?
And can I disappear.
Until it all subsides ?

And all the miles that I must walk
And all the signs I must obey
And all the bridges I must cross
And the courage I must gain
And the heart that I must stop
From closing in on me
Leaves me here
Always here
Just here
Right here

Prince Charming, Sutton Foster, Stephanie J. Block and Lost Keys ....

Have you ever wondered if there is one soul out there for you ? Somewhere waiting just as you are ? No ? Ok, sorry to hear that. I do. I went out last night, and there was no white horse waiting for me, so I went home rather quickly, and who is to say a bar or a club is where the prince is going for a cold Corona ? I am going to wait my trial and hope the turn I make leads me somewhere warm.

I have recieved many letters this week asking if Sutton will be singing tomorrow night at our 'Monday Nights, New Voices.' After much thought and consideration, the answer is no. This night belongs to the talent whom many of you have never had the privledge of seeing, and Sutton is here, like all the hosts of the past, to honor them. It is really gearing up to be a sesnational show, and I hope to see each of you there if you live in the NYC area. I am really looking forward to it, and hope to see you there !!!

I love that Stephanie is on tour, and I am able to follow where she is by the emails I recieve. "I saw Stephanie in Los Angeles" "I saw Stephanie in Chicago." Her fans are incredible, and so supportive, and I am over welmed by there take of 'Never Never Land' and am constantly so grateful that her site holds that song because it really has opened up so much for me, and so thank you !!

Lastly, I lsot my keys this morning. Now, it wouldn't have been so bad if I had my glasses or contacts on, BUT, alas, no sir. I couldn't see anything, and I was trying to make out the number for my super for over an hour before someone opened the door and I realized the hole in my shorts lead the keys to fall out the moment I locked my door. Always fun.

Ok, that is all. Lots of Love. xo -SA

Wow ....harsh harsh

In the past two days I have gotten a huge assortment of emails. There are two sides. There is the side who loves the voices we have used for the new recordings, and there for, enjoy the new recording a lot. Then, there are some of you, and you know who you are, who are obviously huge Stephane Block fans, and (some of you) Idina Fans, who have written to tell me you hate the new recordings, especially Never Never Land, and don't think anyone but Stephanie, and (some of you) Idina, should sing the song. Now, Idina has never sung the song, nor have I ever met Idina, so those emails made me laugh. And, yes, 'Never NeverLand' belongs to Stephanie Block, BUT, within the context of the show, it WILL be sung by four woman. I love those who wrote me saying that 'I don't know if I will see the show if I dont have Stephanie singing NNL in it.' You make me laugh. I like laughing. As far as some of you writing and insulting one of the vocalists and a dear friend of mine, please don't. I would never write you and insult your friends, so don't write me and insult mine. Keep those thoughts to yourself please. I value your opinion in every sense, but not when it comes to your thoughts on the vocalists and nothing more. Was this harsh ? lol ....I hope not ...just some thoughts .... anyhow, I have a meeting tonight, and have officially opened the gates to help out new performers who need help putting together new material for there vocal demo's ...so the door is open for all of you ... I have too many songs locked away in my vault ... Maybe Idina can sing them ?

NEW MUSIC ...

There are some new sounds up on the audio section of the site under 'Piece Demo's' including the new version of 'Never Never Land' (Don't worry ...Stephanie's beautiful version is still on the site in the 'Live and Unreleased' section). Also added was three other songs from 'Piece' including 'His Name,''Alone,' and 'How Did I End Up Here?' I think all the ladies (Shoshana Bean, Schele Williams,Kate Wetherhead and Nikki Renee Daniels) are in fantastic form on these recordings, and it is such an honor to have each of them demo the new material and arrangments. I hope you enjoy them, and let me know your thoughts. xo -SA

Into the wind ...

I spent most of the night with Tara, where we ate a nice dinner and saw a movie most people would laugh at me for seeing: "Sisterhood of the Travelin Pants." Ok, yes, some parts were, well, a little unrealistic. I have too say though, I greatly enjoyed it, and cried like a BABY. Well, I cried like a baby inside. I wanted to let it out, but when I cry, well, lets just say, I cry. I got home, and did something I was not looking forward too doing. Doug and I had been dating for three months, and sadly it has been too hard for us to see one another with our over welming scheduales. He is an incredible guy, yet, this just wasn't a good time for us to start a relationship and that is very sad for me. First time that I have liked someone and nothing was stepping in our way except for contact. Anyhoo, I think I will go to the gym now since it's open 24 hours and work out again. Get some agression out. Ok, that is all. Hope this finds you well. -SA

Morning morning ...

Morning everyone. What a beautiful, sticky, humid morning. I wanted to stop in and say hi before I got myself over to the gym (it's summer. Time to make myself feel as if im doing things to look good). Soooo ..... the studio yesterday went incredible. We worked late, but it was all worth it in the end. Never Never Land is gonna blow your socks off. All I will say about that. Jesse Vargas and Barbara Anselmni did such an amazing job with the arrangments, vocally and musically, and im excited for you to hear it in the context of the show. It was also wonderful seeing friends whom I havent seen in forever, including Nikki, Shoshana and Kate. I haven't seen Kate since she stepped into Spelling Bee ... She will be going on in July, so I will be sure to inform you of that so you can get your tickets ... Everyone sounded great, and I will be finishing the mixing Friday afternoon. Its only piano, so it shouldn't be so hard, though lots and lots of harmonies. OHHHH, This will be your last week to check out the talent on MNNV audio, as next week, we will be changing over with all brand new performances. I was sad that my computer wasn't working all day yesterday, so I hadn't checked email till this morning, so those who wrote me (since I normally write back right away), I promise to try and get back too you sometime this evening, if not early morning. BUUUTTT, and a major but, as I always say, as of now, there is NO sheet music available for purchase of Never Never Land, Home or If I Own Today. I am sorry, and I hope that will change in the near future. Ok, that is all for now. Wishing you the best. xo - SA

Studio ...

So, tomorrow, we head back into the studio to record four songs from 'Piece.' The songs are 'His Name' 'Alone' 'How Did I End Up Here ?' amd 'Never Never Land.' Previously I had announced that Lisa Brescia would be taking place on these recordings, but with her tough sched. doing Evita, she was unable to join us. So who else would we ask but the incredible Shoshana Bean. Shoshana will be singing the role of 26, while Kate Wetherhead, currently understudying in 'Spelling Bee,' will sing the role of 17, Nikki Renee Daniels singing 35, and our own director, Schele Williams (and original AIDA Star), singing the role of 44. I am so excited to hear these girls take on NNL, as it is so beautiful with the new arrangments and the four part harmony, but my favorite is 'How Did I End Up Here?.' I just can't wait. It may take some time for us to get the songs on the Piece website, or even my website for that matter, as these songs have been requested, and aren't really for publication as of now, but the moment we can put them up, we will !!!! Other then that, things here are wonderful. I don't think I can complain. I am off to go get some lunch right now and then joining a friend at CAA tonight for a theatre session, which should be fun. I hope this finds you all in good spirits, and enjoy the weather. xo -SA
